What to Do If You Find Bees

Discovering bees on your property can feel overwhelming, but in most cases there is no immediate danger. Honeybees are generally calm and focused on their colony, and with the right approach, they can often be safely relocated without harm.

If You Find Bees

Seasonal Honeybee Activity

Spring & Summer
During warmer months, honeybees are more active as they forage and expand their colony. This increased movement can look alarming, but it is often a sign of a healthy hive. Most spring and summer colonies can be safely relocated with proper care.

Fall & Winter
As temperatures drop, honeybees slow down significantly. They cluster together to stay warm and may appear inactive. In colder weather, bees are generally less aggressive and pose minimal risk. Many exposed hives do not survive winter without insulation, and in some cases, relocation is best planned for warmer months.
